I’m standing with women
We are UWU women. From dawn till dusk, we do essential work that everybody depends on. We’re coming together to demand SAFETY, EQUALITY & RESPECT.
Right now, one in two women will be sexually harassed, at the workplace or out in the community, and one woman is murdered each week by a current or former partner.
For every dollar a man earns, we earn just 78 cents. That means many UWU members will retire in poverty.
Mothers do DOUBLE the amount of housework and caring as our male partners.
And one in six women will leave the workforce early due to insufficient leave when we reach menopause.
This is not good enough.
UWU members are coming together to stand up for our rights and fight for change.
We believe ALL women deserve to be safe, equal and respected – at work, at home and everywhere in between.

I’m standing with women
Along with free speech, equality is foundational to democracy in society. A place to speak truth to power.
Whoever can do the job, should get paid the same
It would be fantastic to not be set back financially because we are the primary caregivers.
The important things for me: my rights, respect and dignity and morality. we are only human. we are not perfect. learn how to give respect to others.
That every person is treated fairly and without discrimination.
Ive worked my entire life in an unequal system. It’s time for change
It is very important because to treat us women as equal in the workplace and respect where we come from no matter what colour or nationalities who we are and may our integrity and dignity be honoured and respected at workplace, community, public places etc….
I am concerned on retirement for women, having less super because of being stuck as casual workers longer and having a harder time career progressing
Either man or woman who does the same job, they both need to get same amount of pay. No matter what.
Because my work is just as important as a mans job if not more important – I’m a nurse! 😜
We should be seen as equal all along. The Patriarchy have had too much say on what they think we deserve. Enough is Enough
I’m sick of the golden handcuffs. there isn’t enough leave for when kids get sick in daycare and because my husband earns more and has limted carers leave. I’m had to go back to work when my son was 4.5 months old which is better then my friend who had to come back to work at 12 weeks post partum as she didn’t have any maternity leave and couldn’t afford to be unpaid at home.
Maternity leave needs to be longer not everyone gets to bring there baby home straight away and some have traumatic births that have much longer recovery times the current maternity leave dosent cover it unless your in a government position. I wish I could have had longer maternity leave with my son but I couldn’t. Long term the hit to my super and retirement fund couldn’t take it!!
EVERYONE NEED HELP AND SUPPORT FOR SAFETY ISSUES
Everyone is equal
We bear stress at work, mentally and physically, at home we cannot rest as we need to fulfill need of our children and family, their education, household task and support them emotionally. We work more than 12 hours and we are still under paid.
We deserve the same pay, respect and recognition for our hard work, wherever we do it as our male counterparts
Women deserve to feel safe and equal in the workplace. We demand to have our needs met by employers and to be respected by male colleagues.
Because it’s about bloody time!
Because it’s a basic human right
I am a woman who has been under paid for all working life.
I’m standing with women.
And same happened with me at work
We are all human beings, and we should be treated equally!
We need to be equally as men, because good staff leave from this industry for financial reasons. We always struggle with staff shortages.
Because both genders deserve equal representation, equal parental leave, equal wages, equal rights and the removal of stigmas associated with gender
Equality in the workforce is important. For too long women have been dealing with the hardships of inequality and lesser pay. If I am an equal in my relationships at home I should be an equal in the workplace. But I am one of the lucky ones. Far too often women are paid less but still working harder than some of our counterparts and some of these women will go home to a “not so happy” home life. And for what? Enough is enough. It’s time to stand up for our rights.
Because I have been bullied out of my job by two men at my workplace
Women’s rights are human rights.
No one should be murdered or in poverty or undervalued more than any other person. We have the resources and wealth to stop this
Women deserves to be treated equally. They are human beings too.
Equalty is part of a democratic system, without it a country can’t be considered democratic, it is paramout that a political system guarantee the protection of women. Now it is the time to stop violence against women, regardles our economic position. Now or never.
I’m sick of the double standards.
Because every woman now and in the future need to work equal amount of time as their male partners and have a good quality of life in every way
Because women work just as hard as most men do
I want an end to disadvantage and harassment. I want my 16 month old daughter to grow up in a world of true gender equality.
It is a ‘no-brainer’ that we should be treated equally. End of story!
Regardless of gender, we are all human beings and should be treated equally. I am so tired of women being regarded as less valuable than men.
Both men and women are human beings. Why should men be paid more? That is not fair at all!
We are all humans, why should one gender assume domination?
Equal standards in all aspects of the workplace
Because everyone deserves respect, safety snd equality
Because the patriarchy sucks and we have a responsibility to the generations of women that have gone before us and the generations to come to keep on fighting until we’ve won equal recognition, equal pay, equal rights and equal caring responsibilities.
The world has changed, and women are working just as hard as men if not even harder, and we deserve equal rights.
As a mother, daughter, sister and girlfriends are feeling the pinch of injustice and the way that the system is treating us is very unfair and disrespectful.
Super. I have so much less super than my husband because I took time off when I had our kids. I have worked hard my WHOLE life and will not retire with nearly as much as him
As I have granddaughters and for their future I find this very important
My grandma fought for equality, my mother fought for equality, I fight for equality and my daughter shouldn’t have to continue fighting for equality. It’s well over due.
My huaband and I completed same time for TAFE studies and he is paid $8 more and hour
So you are not bullied, intimidated and harassed while working.
we all should be paid for our work equally. gender should not come into
play at all .
