NOMINATE A FRIEND TO STEP UP & STEP IN
DID YOU KNOW: 41% of people have witnessed sexual harassment at work but only one in three people take action to stop it.
Sexual harassment can happen anywhere, from your workplace to after-hours celebrations. It’s on all of us to step up and call it out when we see it.
With work Christmas parties in full swing, now is the perfect time for everyone to learn how to help our coworkers stay safe and respected. Knowing what to do in the moment can be tough but small things can have a big impact.
UWU has created a tipsheet you can SMS to your coworkers to help them learn simple, safe steps to intervene and support their coworkers. It just takes one person to speak up—and that person could be your coworker.
Stepping in can be scary but it can make a real difference. What bystanders do might be the thing that stops harassment in its tracks and shows the person affected they’re not alone.
Just knowing that someone’s back got their back can empower them to speak up or seek support.
What’s included in the tipsheet:
- Why It Matters To Step In
- The ‘Five Ds’ of intervention: Distract, Delegate, Direct, Delay and Document.
- How To Stay Safe
- Five Things To Avoid
- How To Get Help & Support
